Facilities & Equipment

We have various equipment and hardware in the Library for your use.

Photocopiers The library houses five digital photocopiers (four black and white and one colour) which may be used by all students of the college. Photocopy cards are available from a vending machine beside the photocopiers at a cost of €4 for 45 copies.
These cards may also be used to print from the Microform Reader/Printer and to photocopy in the Resource Centre.
A staff photocopier is located at the beginning of the short loan section.
Please keep the doors and lid of the photocopier closed at all times. Should you encounter any difficulty, with your card or with the machine, please contact a member of staff. We ask all our users to abide by Copyright regulations when using college photocopiers. For more information, check out the Copyright section of this site.




Microform Reader/Printers We have two digital Microform readers in the library, each with their own dedicated printer. These can be used to read and print from microfiche and microfilm. A standard photocopy card may be used to print from this apparatus.
There are at present more than 100 journal and newspaper titles stored on microfilm including:
- Freeman's Journal/Irish Independent from 1763 - 1966
- Irish Times from 1859
- School Folklore Collection
- Griffith's Valuations
- Irish Census 1813 -1931






Computers There are four student PCs in the Library with internet access and Microsoft Word installed. They are mainly to be used for research.

There are 11 other terminals specifically for searching the Library Catalogue.











Music Players There are three multi-CD players at the end of the Library. These house CD's chosen by the Music Dept and are operated by remote control which is issued to you at the Issue Desk.
At certain times of the year, when assignments are given out to those studying Music as part of their B.A. or B.Ed. these are in particularly high demand.
During these periods we run a booking system at the information desk where you can book one-hour slots on the machines.

Study Carrells There are 20 study carrells fully fitted with power points and network points for laptops in the Library.
They are available for use by all students, although Postgraduate Students may book them in advance if they wish.
